The Workers’ Compensation Fund Control Board (WCFCB) is a social security scheme responsible for compensating workers in respect of accidents suffered and diseases contracted during the course of employment in accordance with the provisions of the Workers’ Compensation Act No. 10 of 1999 of the Laws of Zambia.
The Board wishes to invite applications from highly credible, result oriented, suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the Position of Networks Administrator - Applications (×1).
JOB PURPOSE
To design, implement and manage the Board's network infrastructure as well as to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the network, providing connectivity, security, and reliability for all users and devices within the WCFCB.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Network Infrastructure Management
• Design, configure, and maintain the organization's local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN).
• Set up and manage network equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal network uptime and availability.
• Plan and implement network upgrades and expansions to meet growing business requirements.
Network Security
• Implement and maintain network security protocols to safeguard sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access.
• Regularly update and patch network devices and software to protect against security vulnerabilities.
• Monitor network traffic for signs of intrusion or suspicious activity and respond to security incidents.
User Support
• Assist users in setting up network connections and resolving network-related problems.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for network connectivity issues.
• Conduct network training sessions for employees to ensure proper and secure usage.
Network Documentation
• Maintain detailed documentation of the network infrastructure, configurations, and changes.
• Create network diagrams and documentation to aid in troubleshooting and future planning.
Network Performance Optimization
• Analyze network traffic patterns to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
• Optimize network performance and quality of service (QoS) for critical applications.
Backup and Disaster Recovery
• Implement and manage network backup solutions to ensure data integrity and availability.
• Develop and execute disaster recovery plans to minimize network downtime in case of emergencies.
Vendor Management
• Coordinate with vendors to resolve hardware or software issues under warranty or service agreements.
Network Policy and Compliance
• Enforce network access policies and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Participate in security audits and implement necessary changes to maintain compliance
Unified Communication Solution Design & Support
• Collaborate with stakeholders to design Cisco UC solutions or indeed other similar vendor products tailored to meet the organization's communication needs. This involves understanding business requirements, assessing existing infrastructure, and proposing appropriate UC architectures.
• Deploy, configure, and integrate Voice and Unified communication products and services, including call processing, voicemail, presence, video conferencing, and unified messaging.
• Create and manage call routing configurations, dial plans, and call admission control to ensure efficient call flow and optimal use of network resources.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must have the following:
• Grade Twelve (12) Certificate with five (5) credits or better which should include English and Mathematics.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Professional certifications like CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or similar, are beneficial.
• Proven experience in network administration and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLAN and SD-WAN.
• Proficiency in network hardware and software configuration and network security principles and best practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
• At least three (3) years’ experience in network administration.
